Armina Books and Baubles

I'm a dreamer and I love to read.

'Til the World Ends - Julie Kagawa, Ann Aguirre, Karen Duvall The review is only for Dawn of Eden. This is a prequel to the Blood of Eden series. It was a very good read. The story is not focused on the main characters of Kagawa's [b:The Immortal Rules|10215349|The Immortal Rules (Blood of Eden, #1)|Julie Kagawa|http://d.gr-assets.com/books/1323357921s/10215349.jpg|15114912] but on a different set of characters - the predecessors of the Archer family. In [b:The Immortal Rules|10215349|The Immortal Rules (Blood of Eden, #1)|Julie Kagawa|http://d.gr-assets.com/books/1323357921s/10215349.jpg|15114912] an important things happened when Zeke's group was at the Archer's. In this prequel Kanin appears for a short but important moment and that's the point where you understand the message of [b:Dawn of Eden|17732017|Dawn of Eden|Julie Kagawa|http://d.gr-assets.com/books/1366756754s/17732017.jpg|24806485]. Although the story describes the start of the apocalypse with quite vivid horror scenes, it has a strong underlying message of hope. And Kagawa chooses to show us that love can be born even in the most awful circumstances. The romance between Ben and Kylie is very nice. Overall Kagawa gives a good view of how the horror of rabidism started. The story is exciting and scary with great action scenes and even a real good sex scene!
Quintana of Charyn (Lumatere Chronicles, #3) - Melina Marchetta Actual rating 4.5 stars.
Froi of the Exiles - Melina Marchetta Parallel review with "Finnikin" to come eventually.
Finnikin of the Rock (Lumatere Chronicles #1) - Melina Marchetta Review to come somewhere in the future.
Undead In The Garden Of Good And Evil - Kim Harrison The story gives good perspective on Ivy's pre-Rachel life and how in general the living vampires function in this world. If you are an Ivy fan you will enjoy it. Otherwise it's not so important if you want to skip it. I was mesmerized by the banshee woman. I would appreciate more interactions with such creatures :).
The Good, the Bad, and the Undead - Kim Harrison Actual rating 4.5 stars.
The Opportunist (Love Me With Lies, #1) - Tarryn Fisher Some kind of review to come eventually when I can think clearer! In fact you should know only one thing - read this book :).

Sins & Needles (The Artists Trilogy, #1)

Sins & Needles (The Artists Trilogy, #1) - Karina Halle 3.5 stars

The Queen's Army: A Tor.Com Original

The Queen's Army - Marissa Meyer

Give me training, fights, animal senses, alpha, beta & omega and I'm totally sold out!

Oh and the names! "Z", seriously? Any Fever fans here? :)

As for "Jael" - in my mind immediately came Jael from Days of Blood & Starlight although I must admit this Jael is much more likable.

I'm only docking a star because it's a novella. Great read!

Cinder (Lunar Chronicles, #1) - Marissa Meyer 3.5 - 4 stars overall. Some kind of review to come these days :).

Go the F--k to Sleep

Go the F--k to Sleep - Adam Mansbach, Samuel L. Jackson Samuel L. Jackson's narration is amazing!
Iced (Fever, #6; Dani O'Malley, #1) - Karen Marie Moning There are a lot of 3.5 stars passages. Some kind of review to come!

Breathe (Colorado Mountain, #4)

Breathe (Colorado Mountain, #4) - Kristen Ashley I'm finally finished and it was an amazing story. It took me too much time to read this book because I got bad timing but this did not make it less heartbreaking lovable. I love both Chace and Faye and can't give less than 5 stars to another of Kristen Ashley's brilliant HEA :).
Unwind - Neal Shusterman What did you think? This question stands above the text box in which I'm supposed to write my review. Have you ever noticed it? I never did before. But may be it's exactly in the right place at the right time because reading Unwind made me think so so much that I'm still thinking :). Thinking with eyes wide open. I am even in a little book hangover.Well, I never write reviews, but still. The book is amazing and every reader who claims interest in YA, Sci-Fi and Dystopian genres must! read it. Because it's an older dystopia(first published November 6th 2007) but it's better than many of the current dystopian craze. I even think that I like it more than The Hunger Games. I'm not sure though :). And jee THAT SCENE with Roland in the Chop Shop still gives me the creeps and makes me so sad at the same time. You will feel it too.I recommend the book to everyone who is looking for an awesome dystopian read.

Seraphina

Seraphina (Seraphina #1) - Rachel Hartman Well, I can say that I had a really rough start with Seraphina. Almost the entire first half of the book is too sluggish and in some moments it was hard for me to find something to carry me forward. But the pace have changed after chapter 15. I began to read chapter 16 and after that I read all chapters to the end in a row. It was that amazing. The book is beautifully written and the music parts are truly touching. All the characters are great. I like Phina's fussing about her morning routine, her mind garden and the way it connects with dreaming. And I really love Abdo a.k.a Fruit Bat.There are a lot of philosophy, humanity, love and goodness in this book. Rachel Hartman involves such important themes as religion, fanaticism, sexual orientation, human emotions, logic and many more so easily and intelligently in this well-realized medieval world. So read this novel and treasure it. I want to recommend it to everyone. And if it's hard for somebody in the beginning just be stubborn and keep reading :).
